NAVY OFFICER'S DAGGER, hilt with mother-of-pearl plates with four grooves (small chips). ----- One mother-of-pearl plate has been changed (the one positioned towards the inside). -----Inverted crossguard with quillon ending with a lion's muzzle. ----- Pommel decorated with acanthus leaves, flowers and a frieze ending in a lion's head. ----- The body knot decorated on one side with an eight-petalled fleurette and on the other with a straight, scalloped marine anchor on a sandblasted background. ----- A chain links the muzzles of the quillon and the crossguard.----- Curved blade with hollow sides of 29 cm, decorated with floral motifs, flags, bundles with traces of gilding. ----- Marking on the ricasso in cursive "A Solingen" and on the other the letters "K & S" (for Kirschbaum and Schnitzler, factory in Solingen at the beginning of the 19th century). ----- Total lenght with scabbard: 47 cm ----- Total lenght without scabbard: 43 cm ----- Brass scabbard on one side entirely decorated with acanthus leaves and various other stylized leaves, the other side bordered with a semicircular frieze. Two suspension rings attached to the scabbard. ----- The bulb-shaped dart. ----- Blade fits perfectly in the scabbard and has no movement. ----- Restoration period (1820-1830). ----- Very good condition. ----- Please look at the photos carefully, they are part of the description. ----- If you have any questions, please ask before bidding.
