Accessibility statement
eGun is an online marketplace – an e-commerce service within the meaning of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG). In line with Annex 3 of the BFSG, this statement describes what our service offers, how it works and how it meets the accessibility requirements. It applies to www.egun.de in the new view and to the app installed from it.
Our service
On eGun, private and business members buy and sell hunting, sporting and collectors’ firearms, ammunition, optics, knives, and hunting and fishing equipment. Sellers offer items at auction or for Buy Now; buyers bid, buy immediately or make a price offer. Buyers and sellers agree on payment and shipping directly with each other; eGun provides the marketplace and charges sellers fees.
How eGun works
- Account: To buy and sell, you register with a username, e-mail address and postal address and confirm the e-mail address with a code. You sign in with a password, optionally with a passkey or additionally with a second factor.
- Buying: You find items via the search and the categories. Your bid is a maximum bid – eGun bids for you automatically in the smallest increments. Bids, Buy Now purchases and accepted price offers are binding.
- Selling: You list items with a title, description, photos, price and duration. Options that cost a fee are marked as such; eGun invoices the fees, payable by bank transfer or direct debit.
- After the purchase: Buyer and seller receive each other’s contact details by e-mail and under “My purchases” or “My sales”, agree on payment and shipping and then rate each other.
- Help: step-by-step guides are in the Help section; for questions, please use the contact form – our customer service will answer.
How eGun meets the requirements
The benchmark is the harmonised standard EN 301 549 and with it the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformance level AA. In detail:
- Keyboard: Every function can be operated without a mouse – including sorting and editing photos; only freehand drawing in the picture editor by its nature needs a mouse, finger or pen. Focus is always visible, and “Skip to content” skips the navigation. Windows such as the photo view, the category picker or the picture editor keep the focus and close with Escape.
- Screen readers: Headings, landmarks and labelled form fields structure every page; images have text alternatives, and notices and error messages are announced.
- Vision: Text meets the contrast requirements, and links in running text are underlined. Pages can be enlarged to 400 % without scrolling sideways, and under “Appearance” you can choose a dark colour scheme.
- Motion: If you have turned on “Reduce motion” on your device, eGun shows no animations and no changing thumbnails.
- Sign-in and security: Registration and the contact forms work without picture puzzles (CAPTCHA). Sign-in codes can be filled in automatically, and for two-factor sign-in the key is also available as text.
- Forms and binding actions: Required fields are marked, personal details can be filled in automatically, and errors are described at the field. Before every bid, Buy Now purchase and price offer, eGun shows a confirmation that you can check or cancel.
- Display: eGun adapts to any screen width and orientation – on the phone in portrait as well as landscape.
Non-accessible content
The following content does not yet fully meet the requirements; we are working on it:
- Item descriptions and images are provided by sellers; we can only partially ensure their accessibility (e.g. alternative texts in descriptions).
- Advertising banners from our advertisers may be animated and cannot be paused on the page.
- Thumbnails with the “gallery” option cycle once through the photos when they appear; this can only be stopped with the device setting “Reduce motion”.
- Search suggestions in the search field are not yet announced to screen readers.
- In the translated interfaces, German listing texts are not yet marked as German, so screen readers read them out with the wrong pronunciation.
- Invoices in PDF format are not prepared for screen readers; every invoice is also available as a web page under “Account statement”.
- Some older content pages (e.g. help texts from the previous system) do not yet fully meet the requirements; they are being revised step by step.
- The classic view of eGun is not accessible; it will be switched off on 15/11/2026. Please use the new view.
