The new eGun interface at a glance - the most important features briefly explained.

Gunni The assistant answers questions about using the new eGun interface - for example, where a feature from the classic view can now be found. Ask Gunni

Floating button hidden? You can switch it back on in the settings.

Compact list

The view switcher above the lists (search, categories, watch list) toggles between card and compact display – compact shrinks the rows for maximum overview. Your device remembers the setting.

My terms & conditions

Your terms are shown on your item pages. They are stored directly in our system; the classic view shows the same version.

Install as an app

You can install eGun like an app on your home screen: in Chrome/Android via "Install", on iPhone/iPad via Share → "Add to Home Screen". As an installed app, eGun starts faster and can receive push notifications.

eGun on the computer

If you prefer the previous eGun website, you can reach it via "Classic view" in the footer.

Classic view

Prefer the previous website? No problem - the button below (also in the menu and in the footer of every page) switches you permanently to the classic view. You can return to the new interface at any time via the „to the new eGun app“ link on the classic site.

Navigation

On the phone the bar at the bottom, on the computer the navigation at the top leads to the main areas: Browse, Search, Sell, Watch list and „My eGun“. „My eGun“ is your personal area with all functions - a red number there shows when price proposals or revocation requests are waiting for your reply.

Search and browse

The search finds items by term or item ID. In the advanced search you can filter by price, region and permit requirement, for example permit-free items only. Saved searches notify you about new matches, and on every seller page you can search that seller's items directly.

The advanced search can also search ended items – for example to compare realised prices.

Result lists load more items automatically: when you reach the end of the list, the next items appear by themselves; after a few pages you continue with “Load more”.

New in the advanced search: item condition (new, used, defective) and a radius search (full postcode plus radius, e.g. + 50 km). All filters can be saved as a saved search. You can also narrow the search to a category and the seller's country – and every category page has its own search box that searches only within that category. Postcode geodata: GeoNames.org, licence CC BY 4.0.

Power syntax in the search box: multiple terms must all match (switchable to OR). Quotation marks find an "exact phrase", a minus sign excludes (e.g. 338 -Winchester), and partial words match too – "12/" finds 12/70 and 12/76. "Whole words only" and searching item descriptions can be enabled in the advanced search.

On the home page, the "Last minute" and "From 1 euro!" rows show auctions ending soon or standing cheap; signed-in members with a German postcode also see "Near you" - items within 100 km, handy for collection and handover in person. The dealer directory in the footer lists all commercial sellers with live listings.

Item descriptions are shown in your language as soon as an automatic translation is available – the original is always reachable via "Show original".

Buy

Bidding, instant purchase and – if the seller has enabled them – price offers all work directly on the item page. The gold bar on the item cards shows how far an auction has progressed; in the final hour it turns red. Use the star to add items to your watchlist.

"New member" next to a username marks members in their first month.

For running auctions the number of bids leads to the full bid list. The bid amounts only become visible there after the auction has ended.

"Often watched together" on item pages shows what other people interested in this item are also interested in.

Under “Price proposals” you can see all ongoing negotiations - as a seller and as a bidder. If an auction ends without bids and is automatically relisted, your price proposal simply stays active. Recently lapsed proposals are shown there for two weeks together with the reason, and can be renewed with one click while the item is available again.

You can withdraw your own price proposal at any time as long as the seller has not yet accepted it.

Sell

On a computer you can style the item description with an editor when listing - fonts, colours, lists, tables and images by URL; the source view lets you edit the HTML directly.

The sell form shows the expected fees live, you sort images by pressing and dragging, and your input is automatically saved as a draft – an interrupted listing is not lost. Use the preview to check your item before listing.

Individual pictures can be listed as a "large picture" with up to 1280 × 1024 pixels (surcharge per picture).

Gallery items do not just show the first photo in lists: their thumbnail cycles through all of the listing's pictures. You book the option when listing or relisting an item that has at least two pictures; all gallery items also have a section of their own.

Sold or ended items can be offered again with one click: "Sell again" under "My sales" or on the item page copies all details and images into a new listing with a new item number. Unsold ended items can still be relisted directly under "My listings".

After the purchase

After a purchase you will find the deal under "My purchases" or "My sales" – with your trading partner's address, all automatic e-mails about the deal and space for a note of your own.

Afterwards buyer and seller rate each other: pending ratings await you under "My feedback", and you can reply to received ratings on your member page.

If your trading partner does not get in touch, you can send them a reminder after three days via "Remind seller" or "Remind buyer"; from ten days on, buyers can also send a reminder about shipping. If a buyer does not react to the reminder for seven days, the seller can cancel the purchase or, for auctions, offer the item to the next bidder – the buyer then automatically receives a negative rating, and their account is suspended.

You accept or decline a second-chance offer under "Runner-up offers" in My eGun. If you want to revoke a purchase, request this directly on the purchase in question – the seller decides under "Revocation requests". Without logging in, you can reach the revocation via “Revoke a purchase” in the footer – you need the item number, your name and your e-mail address.

Messages

Under "Nachrichten" in Mein eGun you find your conversations from the contact form. Reply in the app or simply by e-mail – both end up in the same conversation, and the other person also receives every message by e-mail. The overview shows the feedback score and item status for every conversation, with read receipts, filters and search; new messages appear automatically. Replies by e-mail are only recognised when sent from the e-mail address of your eGun account. Messages can include file attachments (PDF, JPG, PNG, GIF; up to 5 files, 10 MB in total) – including as attachments of an e-mail reply. Images are resized automatically, and attachments are removed from the conversation after 12 months.

Forum

In the forum you can discuss expert and subject-related topics with other members – posts are organised into categories, one of which is reserved for commercial sellers. Item numbers in posts are automatically linked to the item; the forum rules can be found directly below the input field.

Notifications

In the settings you can enable push notifications – for example when you are outbid, when you sell, for price offers, or when a watched item is ending soon. On iPhone/iPad the app must first be installed and opened from the home screen.

eGun will also offer to turn them on directly – for example after you place a bid or add an item to your watchlist. You can dismiss the prompt at any time and enable notifications later in the settings.

Important messages from the eGun team also appear as a system message directly on your overview page.

You can also follow sellers: use the "Follow seller" button on a seller's page to be notified whenever that seller lists a new item. You can find an overview of the sellers you follow in "My eGun" under "Followed sellers".

Tax details

The Platform Tax Transparency Act requires us to report sellers with at least 30 sales or €2,000 in sales revenue per calendar year to the Federal Central Tax Office. For this we need your tax identification number – you can enter it under “Tax details” in My eGun. The report does not create any additional tax for you; the data serves the tax authorities for verification. Affected sellers are informed by us by e-mail.

If a business identification number has been issued to you, please provide that one. It consists of your VAT identification number plus a five-digit suffix, e. g. DE123456789-00001.

If a seller account reaches the reporting threshold without tax details on file, eGun sends reminders and grants the statutory 60-day period – only after that can new items temporarily no longer be listed. Buying and all other functions always remain available. Commercial accounts provide their tax number at registration. Existing commercial accounts without a tax number on file are reminded by a notice in the app; the notice can be hidden for 24 hours.

Account and security

Under "Mein Konto" you manage your address, e-mail, two-factor authentication and passkeys – with a passkey you sign in without a password. Choose the app language via the flag at the top; e-mails from eGun then also arrive in your language. After a longer period of inactivity, a security code sent by e-mail protects the login.

Under “Recent devices” you can see which devices last accessed your account – a quick way to spot unauthorised access.

For sellers

"Mein eGun" bundles your sales: open price offers, revocation requests, the second chance for runner-up buyers, seller statistics and account statement. Commercial sellers create invoices and delivery notes under "Meine Kunden".

When you mark a sale as shipped, you can enter the tracking number and carrier – the buyer is informed about the shipment automatically and can track the parcel directly.

In the settings you can store a signature – it is appended to the automatic e-mails about your sales.

Commercial sellers can list many items at once via the bulk upload: upload a CSV file with images (via URL or ZIP), review, confirm the fees.

Via “My blocklist” you exclude individual members from your own items – anyone listed there can neither bid nor buy with you.

You will find your eGun fee invoices in the account statement in "My eGun" – as e-invoices in ZUGFeRD format (PDF with machine-readable invoice data). As soon as a new invoice is ready, we notify you by e-mail.
